The 11th Technology Transfer Workshop on peatland restoration will be held at Caribou Bog (Manitoba) on October 18th and 19th and will focuss on the restoration of ombrotrophic peatlands (bogs) in Western Canada. This workshop will include presentations and lectures on Thursday by Dr. Line Rochefort, chair of the Peatland Ecology Research Group and “on-site” demonstration of restoration at Caribou bog on Friday. Subjects that will be addressed cover all the steps of a restoration project, from planning to monitoring. Dr. Rochefort will also present novel techniques that she had observed in Alberta and United Kingdom to adapt machinery to different project sizes as well as rewetting. Numerous case studies of bog restoration will be presented. The Friday will be dedicated to the visit of the Caribou bog site where live restoration will be taking place.
